Rhossili Bay is a stunning stretch of beach on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales. At one end is the famous outcrop of The Worm's Head (Pen Pyrrod in Welsh). This narrow tidal island, Worm's Head is derived from an Old English word 'wyrm' meaning 'sea serpent'. Stretching approximately one mile out to sea, the 'worm's head' is only accessible by a rocky causeway for a couple of hours either side of low tide. The remains of the Helvetia, a ship that was wrecked in 1887 can also be seen at low tide!
