The Willow Man (also known as the Withy Man or Wicker Man) used to signal the gateway to the South West of England. Constructed of willow to celebrate the ecology of the nearby Somerset Levels by sculptor Serena de la Hay, the structure has sadly fallen into a state of disrepair, and so this is my way of resurrecting him to his former glory days. In British pre-history folklore, the Willow Man or Wicker Man was said to have been used in human sacrificial rituals by early Pagans; the resulting ashes used to increase soil fertility and crop yields.
