This scene is such a colourful and vibrant depiction of Weymouth Beach, popular with locals and tourists alike. I love helter-skelters, not only the name (!) but their appearance – there's something quite magical about them and they are a reminder of trips to the south coast (including Weymouth) in my childhood.
The charming town of Weymouth in Dorset was originally made popular through the regular visits of King George II, who enjoyed bathing in the sheltered waters.
