Celebrate the bold beauty of modern architecture and contemporary art with this vibrant print of The Hepworth Wakefield. Situated on the banks of the River Calder, The Hepworth is one of the UK’s leading art galleries, named after Barbara Hepworth, the internationally renowned sculptor who was born and raised in Wakefield.
Designed by award-winning architect David Chipperfield, the gallery opened in 2011 and has since become a cultural landmark, winning the Art Fund Museum of the Year in 2017. Its distinctive geometric concrete form, reflected in waters below, offers a powerful contrast to the organic, often nature-inspired forms of Hepworth’s sculptures housed within. The gallery also showcases an impressive collection of modern British art, including works by Henry Moore, Ben Nicholson, and Paul Nash.
My design aims to capture the building’s quiet strength and contemplative atmosphere, framing The Hepworth against the changing Yorkshire sky, with a nod to the taut linear wires Hepworth used to create a sense of dynamism and visual interest.
A perfect addition for admirers of modern design, northern heritage, or simply those who appreciate the fusion of creativity, connection, and place.
