Mam Tor is the easily recognisable hill that towers above the village of Castleton in the High Peak area of Derbyshire. Standing at 517m, it is a popular destination for walkers. Meaning "mother hill", Mam Tor's unique appearance has been created through the frequent landslips on its eastern face, resulting in the multitude of "mini-hills" beneath its peak.
