The Lion Bridge Art Print

Tracing the curved ha-ha we headed to the water and the bridge, whose reflection formed a still and silent mirror image in the water below. Bare trees and brittle reeds witnessed our passing as we located a bench on which to warm our bodies with the hot coffee and pastries we’d purchased on our way through the town. Brief was our respite, such was the coldness and we soon retreated across the rolling land to the gatehouse and the warmth of a nearby antiques shop, fusty with aged treasures to pick through.

It marks a scenic point in my visual journey through town, which I spent a whole week illustrating from my desk – mapping a route from the Burghley estate all the way to the iconic town centre. This print is tied to wonderful memories of pottering through the historic streets with Steve for his birthday, catching a final nostalgic visit to the Katie Cardew shop before it closed its doors.
