Humber Bridge Barton Art Print

The Humber Bridge is a single span suspension bridge that was opened in 1981. When it was opened it was the longest of its type in the world. It spans the Humber (an estuary of the rivers Ouse and Trent) between Barton-on-Humber in North Lincolnshire and Hessle in the East Riding of Yorkshire, linking the two regions, formerly known as Humberside. Flanked by two nature reserves, Far Ings and Water’s Edge, the bridge sits between crucial east-west migratory routes for birds. The pits and reedbeds along the Humber bank are remnants of the once thriving tile and cement industry.

It was the vegetation and wildlife habitat at Far Ings and Water’s Edge that inspired me to create this version of my popular Humber Bridge design.
