The Humber Bridge is a single span suspension bridge that was opened in 1981. When it was opened it was the longest of its type in the world. It spans the Humber (an estuary of the rivers Ouse and Trent) between Barton-on-Humber in North Lincolnshire and Hessle in the East Riding of Yorkshire, linking the two regions, formerly known as Humberside.
