Fitties Beach 3 Art Print

Nestled near the village of Humberston, Fitties Beach is renowned for its golden sands, grassy dunes, and the distinctive Humberston Fitties Chalet Park. The term “fitties” developed from the anglicisation of the Norse fitjar meaning “foreshore saltings” or “waterside grassland” reflects the area’s natural heritage.

Part of a series of three scenes, each depicting a different view of the beach, the origins of this print started out as part of a walk from St Anthony’s Bank towards Cleethorpes. I loved the cloud reflections in the water that gathered in the patches of exposed rock along the beach. While slightly north of Fitties Beach, I have still referred to this as such, as part of my exploration along the coast from Humberston to Cleethorpes. My aim was to recreate the big blue skies, fluffy clouds and bright sunshine from that day.
