Chatsworth House is a stately home and seat of the Duke of Devonshire. It has belonged to the Cavendish family since 1549. Located in the Derbyshire Dales, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north-east of Bakewell, the house and estate stands on the east bank of the River Derwent.
Set within extensive parkland that hosts the annual Chatsworth Horse Trials, the house is backed by wooded hills that rise to heather moorland. Open to the public, the house holds major collections of paintings, furniture, Old Master drawings, and neoclassical sculptures, and books.
