Breathing in the crisp January air, we wandered across the frost filled paths of the estate, an early morning mist lingering around the thickets of trees in the hollows. Up and over the path, walkers and joggers were out in force, perhaps invigorated by the first sharp breaths of the morning air. The house came into focus as if a veil of muslin cloth were being gently lifted, revealing turrets and windows and looming towers.
Using photographs I took during a wintry birthday visit, I carefully reassembled the grand architecture and sweeping grounds from my desk chair. Located right on the edge of town, this grand Elizabethan mansion was built by William Cecil, the chief advisor to Queen Elizabeth I, and famously hosts the world-renowned Burghley Horse Trials (something I have still yet to see in person!). Featuring an unusual colour palette, and layered textures, this print captures the majestic, timeless presence of the house in the winter light.
The Details: A bold and elegant fine art print that celebrates British heritage, stately architecture, and crisp winter walks.
