The River Ancholme in North Lincolnshire is home to several fascinating and unusual bridges, each with its own historical and architectural significance.
Along with its neighbouring bridges that collectively span the Ancholme, Broughton Bridge connects Broughton with the market town of Brigg. Historically, crossings like this were crucial for trade, agriculture, and industry in the region, allowing goods and people to move more easily between villages and market towns.
A gateway to the Ancholme Valley, the bridge is part of the picturesque route that follows the river and connects various historic and natural landmarks in North Lincolnshire. Whether you’re walking, cycling, or simply passing through, Broughton Bridge provides a great starting point for exploring the tranquil waterways and rich heritage of the Ancholme area.
Alongside my designs of Horkstow and Saxby Bridges, this digital collage seeks to capture the essence of Broughton Bridge, in a colourful blend of textural layers.
