Blackdown Hills art print designs: A set of two prints, depicting the ancient Blackdown Hills on the South Somerset/East Devon border.

Print One – Blackdown Hills (I)

In this piece, I explore the layered landscape of the Blackdown Hills, drawing on its patchwork of fields, hedgerows and wooded valleys. Built from my original paintings and reworked digitally, I used fragments of texture and mark-making to reimagine this gently rolling terrain across the vast swathes of moorland heather in the foreground. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Blackdown Hills hold a quiet, timeless character – something I aim to reflect through subtle shifts in colour and form, balancing familiarity with a fresh perspective.

Print Two – Blackdown Hills (II)

This print captures a different rhythm of the Blackdown Hills, focusing on the view back towards Wellington Monument. Through layered colour and deconstructed forms, I draw out the contours of the hillside, shaped by centuries of farming and ancient woodland, where the landscape carries a strong sense of history and connection. I used to love walking through this landscape when I lived in Wellington many years ago.
