Unfinished due to lack of funding, just twelve columns were constructed, giving rise to various nicknames such as 'Scotland's Folly', 'Edinburgh's Disgrace', 'the Pride and Poverty of Scotland' and 'Edinburgh's Folly'.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDespite the nicknames, the monument stands proudly on the Edinburgh skyline as a memorial to the Scottish soldiers and sailors who died during the Napoleonic Wars.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI've visited the monument on a couple of occasions.
